Whanganui Funeral Notices

It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of our beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather on Saturday 13th November 2021.

He will be sorely missed.

Born in Rotterdam in 1931, Arie lived a life full of adventure.

He sailed the north Atlantic, spent some 40 years in Africa, in Liberia, South Africa, Botswana and Zimababwe, before moving to New Zealand for his final 20 years.

He was very involved in the community life of Whanganui as a member of the Freemasons, the Jazz Club, the Dutch Klaverjas and NZ Masters as well as a being volunteer in the Community Police Force.

He is now at peace and with his beloved Jannie again.

Our heartfelt thanks to the staff at Summerset Rest Home who provided him with amazing care during his last few painful days.

According to Arie's wishes, a Private Farewell has been held to celebrate his life.

Peacefully in Wanganui on 19th November 2021, aged 85 years.

Loved wife of the late David and Mum of Robyn and Ian, Kerry and Glenda, and Chris and Kim. A loved Nana of all her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

For all their care of Myra, donations to Hospice Whanganui would be appreciated.

Myra’s life will be celebrated at a Memorial Service held in the Cleveland Reception Lounge, 179 Ingestre Street, on Saturday, 27th November 2021, at 1.00pm.

Peacefully in Whanganui after a full life, on Thursday, the 18th November 2021, in her 96th year.

Loved wife of the late James (Jim). Loved mother and mother-in-law of Warren, Owen and Marilyn, Sharon and the late Doug. Loved Grandma of Andrew and Rachel, Nicola, David and Kate; and Lucy. Loved Great-Grandma Norma of Finn, Liam, and Rory.

In accordance with the family’s wishes, a private cremation will be held.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held in December when family are able to join together.

At Broadview Hospital, Wanganui on 12th November 2021 after a challenging illness.

Loved Husband of Bernice for 60 years and loved Dad of Kane and Corilin, and Jason and Jodi.

Loved Grandad of Hayleigh, Hannah, Charlotte, and Harry.

Sincere thanks to the Broadview team for their care of Jim.

Passed away peacefully at New Vista Rest Home on Wednesday 11th August 2021, aged 93 years.
